pillow cases vintage Building my brand and an upcoming event personalized gifts for women

So as some of you know I've been working hard over the last weeks to take some exciting steps with my wallpaper collection. The dark floral design that has received such an enthusiastic response via Pinterest should be available later this summer/early this fall. I'll keep you updated on the details of that here on the blog, or you can e-mail me at to be placed on my mailing list. I can let you know the moment my web shop goes live :) I love hearing from you so please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Today I learned via Victoria Smith's SFGirlbyBay blog that she, as well as Tricia Guild of Designers Guild, will be key note speakers at the upcoming Meet the Blogger event in Amsterdam, September 30 - October 1. I attended this event a couple (?) of years ago when Holly Becker of Decor8 was the key note speaker. It looks fantasticpillow cases vintage, like an event I really can't miss.

Besides Tricia Guild (a kind of personal hero of mine) being there, I'm excited to network with other bloggers and people in the world of styling/photography/interiors and blogging. Honestly blogging is kind of an afterthought for me ... I want to get better at it but so far I just haven't been able to keep up the frequency. I'm sure I'll be totally outclassed by this crowd, but at least there will be no shortage of inspiration and people with shared interests! Is anyone reading this planning on being there? If so, please get in touch!

Meet the Blogger 2013 is also taking place in a fantastic location: the Westerliefde, a converted former gas factory in the Westerpark in the center of Amsterdam. I know it well, as it happens to be the place I got married nearly 5 years ago ...

See, there we are, very serious, and very happy ...

So in addition to furthering and bettering myself at this conference, I can take a walk down memory lane as I am sitting in that familiar space :)

I will be sure to report back on it here on the blog, when I come home full of new inspiration and ideas.

In the meantime, I'm always designing of course. Here is a super sneak peek at a work-in-progress: a new wallpaper design in the dark floral series. Like the first design, this one is on a gigantic scale (this is a thumbnail of a 1.5 meter wide painting). It is inspired by the Great Masters and the still life paintings done by Dutch and Belgian painters in the Golden Age, but painted using processes and techniques that I hope will come to define my own, modern-day, signature style.

A design like this takes months to complete, but each time the process teaches me more about what I want to make. And in this way, I am (slowly but surely) building my brand.

This is a personal project I created using waste fabrics.
